I was invited to sit in on a Virtual meeting with Congresswoman Kendra Horn and the “Problem Solvers Caucus” of the United States House of Representatives. They were discussing the very real revenue issues facing rural towns in America as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, i.e. she specifically mentioned the potential loss in Sales Tax revenue in Oklahoma rural towns.
She mentioned me and Jones, OK in her speech, and how devasting the loss could be for our budget. Jones’ ST revenue for the April 2020 reporting period was down 36.2% from the same period last year and down 19.1% from the previous month! And that reporting period is actually for revenue collected in Feb and the first part of March before the Pandemic fully hit us.
I truly fear what the May report will show. #shoplocal y’all
