To say these are difficult times, we are living in today, would be an understatement. But I am confident that we will get through these tough times. We, as Americans, are resilient, we are fighters, and we are survivors!
Today Governor Kevin Stitt issued Executive Order 3.24.20, “Safer at Home Measure” which calls for the closure of all non-essential businesses and limits public gatherings to 10 or fewer people. This “Order” is in effect for the 19 Oklahoma Counties that have reported a positive test for the CORVID-19 Virus, which includes all of Oklahoma County.
The “Order” takes the decision out of the hands of local governments.
The “order” requests the elderly and individuals who are immunocompromised or have preexisting conditions to shelter in their homes, leaving only for essential needs such as groceries of prescriptions, until April 30, 2020. Here is a link to the CDC guidelines regarding higher-risk individuals, https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/specific-groups/high-risk-complications.html.
The “Order” also closes non-essential businesses that are in Oklahoma counties with confirmed cases of COVID-19:
- Businesses explicitly listed include hair salons, gyms, theaters, massage parlors, tattoo parlors, museums, etc.
- Restaurants may remain open in these counties but must close their dine-in area, offering instead curbside pickup and delivery.
- Businesses must come into compliance by midnight on March 25.
-Suspends elective surgeries, minor medical procedures, and non-emergency dental procedures beginning March 25 for the next two weeks to preserve medical supplies and PPE for COVID-19 response.
-Prohibits gatherings of 10 or more individuals.
-Restricts visitors at nursing homes, retirement or long-term care facilities.
