An Exciting Time
Jun/093
It is an exciting time to be Mayor in Jones! Don’t look now, but before long you will be seeing some drastic changes on Main Street! O,G, & E has already began construction on moving the electric lines and poles to the alley to the south of Main St. and we ahve received a grant from ODOT for over $650,000. to redo the sidewalks and street. This is a project that I have been working on for about 10 years and it is finally coming to realization. In addition to the Main St. project, construction on the new Jones High School is progressing well and on schedule. We are also exploring the possibility of a new Library. Glenda Choate is the Jones representative on the Metropolitan Library Commission and she has done outstanding work in representing our interest in obtaining a new library. Hopefully, in the near future we will have an announcement of a new library and its location. And, last but not least, as many of you have heard, we have a problem with some elevated concentrations of lead content in the fence area of the ball parks at Kiwanis Field. We, the Town of Jones City Board of Trustees and the Jones Kiwanis Club, are researching the availability of land to re-locate the ball parks. This will be a costly project, but one we feel must be addressed in the immediate future. We are happy to listen to any suggestions the citizens of our great community may have. This is an effort that will require the help and support of all the people of our community.
